SIM swap and port-out scams

Protect your number.

5 min read

In a SIM swap scam, someone convinces your carrier to move your number to their phone, then uses it to get into your accounts.

Protect yourself

  • Set a PIN or passcode on your carrier account
  • Ask your carrier about number lock or port-out protection
  • Use an authenticator app instead of text codes where you can
  • Never share codes sent to your phone

Warning sign

If your phone suddenly loses service, contact your carrier right away from another phone.
